Due to its good comprehensive properties, cemented carbide dominates the global cutting tool consumption structure, accounting for 63% in 2021.

Carbide tool industry chain: at a key node in the midstream, there are many companies with a whole industry chain layout

Carbide cutting tools are at the most downstream of the tungsten industry chain, accounting for 50% of the overall tungsten consumption in China. The materials of cemented carbide include tungsten carbide, cobalt powder, tantalum-niobium solid solution, etc. The upstream is mainly the manufacturer of corresponding raw materials. According to data from China Tungsten Industry Association, 50% of China’s tungsten consumption in 2021 will be in the field of carbide cutting tools.

The terminal applications of carbide cutting tools are extensive, involving more than ten downstream industries. The application fields of cemented carbide tools are widely distributed, mainly concentrated in five fields of automobiles and motorcycles, machine tools, general machinery, molds, and construction machinery, accounting for 20.9%, 18.1%, 15.0%, 7.4%, 6.8 %, accounting for nearly 70% of the total.
